Toronto ACORN Fair Banking Forum on February 27th!

Posted February 24, 2016

On Saturday February 27th at 1:00 pm Toronto ACORN will be holding our Fair Banking Forum in Weston and it would be great if you could attend! It will be at the Weston King Neighbourhood Centre, 2017 Weston Rd.

Special guests York South Weston MP Ahmad Hussen, and City Councillors Frances Nunziata and Kristen Wong-Tam will be on hand to publicly respond to ACORN’s campaign to get the City to use zoning laws to limit predatory lenders in Canada. Representatives from the Canadian Union of Postal Workers will talk about how a Postal Bank would create a low-cost alternative to predatory lenders like Money Mart.

From coast to coast, the movement for Fair Banking is rising up to take action and demand change, especially from elected officials. Right here in Toronto, City Councillors Frances Nunziata and Kristen Wong-Tam have pledged to put forward legislation to stop predatory lending practices.

We need you to attend this Fair Banking Forum to hold these councillors to their word and ensure the campaign moves forward!
