Parliament Hears ACORN's Demands for Fair Banking!

Posted March 29, 2018

ACORN members traveled to Parliament on March 29 to support Finance Critic, Peter Julian MP, as he tabled ACORN's petitions for fair banking in Parliament. Our Fair Banking / End Predatory Lending campaign calls upon the federal government to provide access to fair financial services for low and moderate income Canadians. MP Sheila Malcolmson also presented our petitions. Our campaign has also received support from the Liberals, despite Finance Minister Bill Morneau refusing to present our petitions. Liberal MP Julie Dabrusin recently tabled our petitions in the House. See MP Sheila Malcolmson presenting our petitions here, MP Julie Dabrusin here and MP Peter Julian  here.

ACORN members also released a video highlighting the devastating impact of predatory lending. Three members have shared their debt story to raise awareness of predatory lending. Watch the video below:

Our new infographic shows the extent to which predatory lending can cause crisis debt:

We need the federal government to listen to low and moderate income Canadians, and end predatory lending. Take action HERE.
