Ontario ACORN leading the way in fight against predatory lenders!

In Toronto, ACORN has allied with Kristen Wong-Tam and Frances Nunziata to move a motion to Toronto City Council to bring in a Minimum Distance Separation Bylaw.  
 
A great turnout at the Toronto ACORN Fair Banking Forum on Feb 27 heard from residents who have been victimized by predatory lenders, ACORN's leading members on the issue Laurie Simpson and Donna Borden, and politicians from all three levels of government.
 
In Ottawa, members are making strides in the push to enact distancing laws, licensing, and other rules to stop the proliferation of lenders.
 
Predatory lenders include installment lenders, car title loans, rent-to-own furniture, and payday lenders.
