Accountability for Healthy Homes Rally in Surrey

Posted November 25, 2016

BC ACORN members braved the bitter winds to call on the city of Surrey's by-law department to improve their accountability to the citizens of the city yesterday.

The action comes in response to the by-law office's apparent indifference to a number of complaints filed by tenants at 13979 104th avenue, who spent the better part of this year without a functioning elevator. ACORN members are calling on the city of Surrey to create a online registry where residents will be able to see that complaints filed under the standards of maintenance by-law have been recorded by city staff to ensure the by-law office is holding slumlords accountable.
